From the Preface of the King James Bible 1769:
The character Jesus in the Bible tells you:
The Bible is about our own simple and natural spiritual discovery; on the surface it appears as stories, seemingly outside of you. Without discernment most of it sounds foolish.
"Men" can also be a pointer to our own rambling thoughts:
Did you ever consider the "kingdom" simply as your natural state? Being yourself, not intimidated by the whispers of thoughts and feelings, free of suffering: happiness in practical daily life, independent of circumstances.
Our mind can be unbelievably stubborn. Lots of subtle resistance can come up when we start examining and testing what we believe. The separate-self tends to defend familiarity instead to embrace freedom.
We can easily be intimidated by fears and doubts, maybe our whole life, without ever discovering where we miss the mark.
Very late in life did I discover the beauty and significance of scriptures. "Truth is an activity in our own Consciousness"... Paradoxically it requires some self-directed thinking to bypass the psychological limitations of thinking. What do you think (-;
It is not about right and wrong, but to learn and practice using mind and speech in a loving way.
